An innovative, cost-effective alternative

A major bank had 20 subject matter experts across the country who needed media training in preparation for the bank’s Small Business Week media relations initiative. 

The logic was fairly simple; we all know that local spokespeople get better results.

The bank hadn’t budgeted to bring everyone together for media training, nor could they afford the time and expense to send someone across the country to train them. And they didn’t want to send spokespeople out untrained.

The solution? The unique learning experience of At Ease With the Media.

Subject matter experts from across the country first completed the structured, disciplined online media training program. Once they earned their Certificates of Completion, they participated in media training via Skype, conducted one-on-one and in pairs. The two-hour structured program included a series of four practice interviews for print and broadcast purposes.

The interviews were recorded and portions were played back. Feedback was provided, just like in-person media training!

It was a very cost-effective alternative for the bank that enabled its public affairs staff to have spokespeople across the country ready for Small Business Week.
